BELLEVUE EAST LITTLE LEAGUE COACH TRAINING/ SAFETY MEETINGn

Bellevue East Little League is excited to bring back former NCAA D-I Head Coach and former professional player, Mark Linden of Baseball Positive to lead our Coach & Parent Training program.  In addition to his experience at higher levels of the game Mark has worked the past nine years exclusively at the 12U level.  He brings a unique insight and approach for teaching the game effectively to young players.  The Baseball Positive system of coaching provides structure and efficiency to practice planning, running drills and building skills.

ATTENTION COACHES & PARENTS!

You are invited to attend one of the league sponsored Coaching Clinics in February and March.

Our coaches are volunteers and parents just like you.  Managing 12 kids on a ball field and keeping them active, learning and having fun throughout a practice is a job requiring more than one or two coaches.

Parents can be very helpful during a practice even if it’s simply catching throws during drills, helping the kids transition from drill to drill or shagging balls.  Some parents progress to assisting with drills as the season unfolds.

You are strongly urged to make time to attend one of the league’s coaching clinics.  Basic terminology, core drills run during practices and the structure of an effective practice are examples of clinic content.   You will recognize that helping kids develop baseball and softball skills does not require you to be an expert.

The more bodies we have on the field at each practice translates into a more active and fun environment for the kids and helps them to develop their skills quicker and to a higher degree of mastery.

CLINIC SCHEDULE:

Monday, February 27 - 6:30 to 9:00 PM  |  1st Year Player Pitch
Sunset Elementary (4229 W Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE)

Sunday, March 6 - 6:30 to 9:00 PM  |  Coach/Machine Pitch

Sunday, April 2 - 4:00 to 6:00 PM |  Tee-Ball

WHY KIDS QUIT PLAYING SPORTS

Why Kids Quit Playing Sports

Sometimes it's easy to forget that Little League is 100% about the kids and making it their experience. Here is a great article to remind us all that this is a kid's game, and that it's more important to raise a great kid that it is to raise a great athlete: http://changingthegameproject.com/why-kids-quit-sports/
